Im not a big fan of sci fi, but I found the Dune series a pretty good series, got semi dry towards the end. Im liking the series so far. Pretty accurate.

All in all, I prefered Lynch's version to the mini-series.

While the story in the mini-series was more faithful to the books, I got distracted by the sets and costuming. Typical old school sci-fi. Everything is plastic. In the movie, even the ships seemed old and worn from use. Also... the Harkonens weren't nearly as sinister on television.

Nothing lives up to the books... or even gets close.

IMHO don't waste your time with the tv series. Grab the audiobook versions of the Dune Prequels... 6 books worth, very enjoyable if you're a Dune fan and Frank Herberts son has done an awesome job of filling in his dads boots.

Ya the books are wonderful... I must have read them 3 or 4 times so far.

But I DO like the sci-fi mini series version a lot.

The first attempt sucked terribly imo

The lynch movie is fantastic, late this year theres going to be a Dune spec ed DVD with the theatrical version, and a brand new Lynch edited extended cut of the film

The Legends of Dune, and Prelude to Dune House prequel trilogies by Brian Herbert are great!

I'd past in a 'pwned' picture... but I don't have one that properly reflects the 'two way ownage' that just occurred, not only by you correcting him, but by simultaneously confessing (in public) such an intimate knowledge of Dune.

been a long time since i have read a dune book but scifi did a good job on the dvd. and yes, i need to give her some low maintenance training.

from all 5 books Dune is best for make movie ( lot of action , fighting), but best for reading are later parts.
My favorite is "God Imperor of Dune" and last part. But hard tro imagine how to "translate " them for movie language.
