Alt. Monkey = Smart pilot who can manuver well with plenty of sky beneath him.

Baby Seal = Pilot who stays on the deck and has no space to manuver in at all.

You have a tank for an avatar and your asking me a question about how I fly fighters? lol

I fly them both ways.

I only engage with the advantages of alt, friendly numbers, if the other guy is missing a wing or a tail, if I see a red plane with 3-5 or more green planes on it, I will engage that. Also I dont think turning is very usful as it wastes too much energy.
