LOL!
Me?  I lead you astray to Napster?  To my recollection, that event never occurred.  See, the glove is too small for my hand!
Does anyone else think it is stupid that no one seems to care about people tape recording cd's from someone.  People have been doing that for years.  Are they going to start suing the whole planet for spreading free music now?  Absolutely ridiculous!  Long live free mp3's!  Metallica sucks these days anyway.

Damned record companies get what they deserve for keeping an iron hand on the prices and artificially keeping the price up.

besides, am i the only one who thinks that succesfull "artists" are big spoiled weenie brats? They do wahat they like for a living and then whine when they only have $20 million income a year.

Hell, I say pay 'um less and lower the prices.

Too bad about Metallica. Let 'um screw their fans, they get no respect from me for this.

That is hilarious, I had to download it and save it to watch again

SUPERFLY it was you who posted the napster url and led I dinnae how many of us there.  I have the proof =)  BTW thanks for the link, it's come in very handy

Pongo were you one of the ones banned?  Who from here got hit with that crap?

I'm firmly in the F#&$ Metallica camp now.  Thier music these days suck, and they've shown how much they care for all thier fans.  I've bought every albumn they've made up to the black albumn.  Some I've bought several times.  For various reasons (friends, theft, 3yr old daughter) they've gotten lost/damaged.  I figured I'd slowly rebuild my collection (and only get the songs I really liked =) by snagging mp3s.  Hell I've paid for'em.

Guess it's the old fashioned way now.. get a friend to tape the cds or make a copy of them if they have a burner

Here's another link for a flash parady.  This one make sense too

Absolutely not! However, you have to understand the hypocrisy the music industry has engendered upon us. New bands HAVE to release free MP3's in order to get exposure. Once they get recognized they become 'too good' for the MP3 realm, and the megabands are just prima donna's about it. Still, the best use of MP3's is HD storage of your favorite tunes, and not internet trading. Did anyone notice that the use of Napster increased as a result of this headline?

Metallica. What a joke. There was a time when people knew the true value of performers, actors, and politicians. They were on a par with prostitutes and vagabonds. Kind of like knights and rooks

Voss & Natedog -

I don't really want to start a flame war here , but I disagree that the music industry is wrong here.

Sure new talent is relying more and more on the internet to get exposure. Once a little name recognition is achieved, then they have the right to start charging for their new music. This is a huge advantage over the old days when a few cronies had a say over what we all were exposed to.

Let's put this in the context of HTC. Aces High has a two week trial period. If you want to continue, it's going to cost you $30/month. Doesn't sound unreasonable to me, but others may think that, since they can download demo of other games and play (in limited manner) for free for forever, they should be able to with Aces High.

I don't think that HTC would be too happy if someone reverse engineered the AH server interfaces and started using the AH FE to run their own on-line sim, either.

Please reread my post.   I agree. I do not think that distributing the intellectual/artistic efforts of anyone should be condoned. Absolutely not.

bit of difference there sourkraut.  AH does have a limited play.  The H2H play is free, only requiring a registered account.  People can play this as much as they desire.  There is also unlimited offline play.

The Federal Trade Commission announced today that it has reached separate settlement agreements with ... the five largest distributors of recorded music ... in the United States to end their allegedly illegal advertising policies that affected prices for CDs.
The proposed agreements would settle FTC charges that all five companies illegally modified their existing cooperative advertising programs to induce retailers into charging consumers higher prices for CDs, allowing the distributors to raise their own prices.
The FTC estimates that U.S. consumers may have paid as much as $480 million more than they should have for CDs and other music because of these policies over the last three years.

Now I'm not saying it's right to be pirating music.  I did hunt for several Metallica MP3s on napster and downloaded the ones I was looking for when I found them.  That being said, I have purchased every albumn Metallica has released, through the black albumn, atleast once.  A couple of albumns were purchased up to 4 times (friends moving away with them, kid thinks cd's are frisbees, etc).  To hell with going and paying for the discs again when I can just snag what I want, and most of what I was hunting for was off the black albumn, which I've bought 4 times.
