what the heck changed?
« Reply #15 on: April 18, 2005, 01:22:09 PM »
mine are Fix it utilities (Trend micro AV) , adaware , hijack this, along with the firefox browser .

Hijack this is a user beware program but its alot easier then doing the registry manually .

I only find about one cookie per week these days w/adaware.

i also check my running proccesses and keep those to a min also .

the  other thing that helps is a registry defrag .. (i never do a hd defrag just the reg )

theres lots of other spyware programs to be had,  but ive had good luck w/ my setup so far (havent had a successfull virous in a very long time)

the temp files/main windows folder  is were alot of bad stuff can hide ,  ive been cleaning all my neibors pc's for them, so ive kinda got bug extermination down .

Hitech my experience this month unfortunately does not agree with your statement.
I am not suggesting Savvis is causing stalls i threw that in as somebody else said things seem to be handling differently.
With regard to rubber bullets, what can i say.
My hit rate has dropped and i am having to really lay into a target to get a kill, no more snap shot kills. In fact unless i get a few seconds on a target they dont even seem to take any damage.
Far to many assists and not enough kills.

Not arguing just saying how it is at my end.
But with Savvis giving me a constant packet loss of between 20% and 60% do you still say its impossible to get rubber bullets ?

On the 1st of this month i was at 12:1 K/D, hit rate was about 20% and K/T around .030.
On the 2nd of this month it was as if somebody had thrown a switch and everything went into freefall.
So i check the routing and from that time to this Savvis connection is abominable.
Now keep in mind i have been playing your game from the time of the original beta, so i reckon by now i know how to hit them and what to expect when i do.
Perhaps you use tcp for hits and they are not supposed to get lost but something wierd is going on (from my perspective at least).

Edit.

Found my handling problem at least, and anybody who uses a Cougar will understand.
In TM setup somehow it had changed from manual to auto calibration.
In effect this means that unless you move your controls to there full extent before flying, then its just guessing a calibration until you hit the movement limits.
Hyper sensitive response springs to mind.

WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED?

it was smooth as silk unitll the lastest patch.

tried everything from full windows calibration to reinstalling the hardware and software.

nothing helps.

right now the game plain sucks for me.

add to this that MA gameplay is totaly non-existant and you have a very un happy camper.

HT, whats changed or have ALL of my computer bits gone wrong at the same time?

:(

I recently did a Windows update that included a new Saitek driver.. which caused some difference.

housecall is fine Ive used that on other pc's

Fix it utility's  is a all in one program that was built originally with Trend micro's AV program (it got sold to vcom a couple of years ago)   its 20-30 bucks  though . theres several of us that use it and ive never seen any complaints yet .

I believe that the AV pattern files are the same between fix it and house call.

im not shure how well the new microjunk AV program works yet . (im ignoring my pc that has xp on it again .. SP2 porked the thing )

Here's a free cleaner:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_cleaner.html

And a totally free better than anything by Norton et al virus app:

http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

I run my own small computer business, and have for 5 years.. I've installed the free version on well over 1000 systems, my cutomers rave about it.

The HOME version its 100% FREE, all they ask for is an e-mail to register. No ads, spyware or spam either..

When I'm gaming out the AV processes is easy to kill in order to free resources too.

Well I have a new stick and It is not the problem...the last patch is causing lag-warping.. plain and simple.....before patch...OK after Patch...BS freezing and rubber bullets..had to turn down all video settings just so the warping would be under control....rubber bullets still exist and I have been flying a typhoon this month....before patch...two hits there down...after patch...200 hits there smokin......I agree the game is evolving but which way? I built a new puter for AHII cause my old puter that was 6 months old wouldn't handle AHII....You guys are going to cause a mass exodous if you keep going down this path. Give us toggles to turn the "Fluff" off...if a person wants fluff they can select it, if they want barebones they can select it. Geez this is getting absurd.
Savis has issues but when the issues magically appear after a patch well it doesnt take a whole lot of gray matter to figure that one out!

I've been using AVG for years and never had a problem (so far) as well as panda...I'll give avast a try see if it catchs something the others missed...
