Ironic?
« on: April 18, 2005, 04:54:59 PM »
SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- A woman who led an effort to help those ravaged by violence in Iraq fell victim to the war herself when a car bomb killed her and two other people, officials said Sunday.

Her heart may have been in the right place, but her bellybutton certainly was in the wrong place. This story made me remember the Brit lady who was gored by a bull while trying to save it during the running of the bulls through Madrid, iirc.

Ironic....  no.  Unfortunate, yes.

Alanis Morrisette really screwed up the definition of that word in a lot of peoples heads.

I would say it would be more Ironic if she went there to protest the aledged cruelty of the Iraqis at the hands of US troops and got killed by a suicide bomber.

Agreed, THAT is ironic.

I think helmet laws are stupid, but I'd never ride without one, no matter what the law said.  These laws serve only to slow the survival of the fittest.  The safer our planet gets, the slower we will advance as a species.

At the most, if the laws have a nugget of usefulness (eg, helmet, seatbelt, etc) then they should be confined to the 18 and under crowd.  Adults should be free to smear themselve against whatever fixtures they want.  Want to strongly discourage this unsafe behavior?  There's nothing stopping the insurance companies from denying coverage to people exhibiting certain defined 'dangerous behaviors', but it's not the governments place to be involved.

You're right...anyone should have the right to be stupid..I just hate when the stupid don't have medical insurance and out tax money goes to patching em up.

I agree. and at least there we are paying for our own

What I really hate is our tax money going to help illegals without medical insurance.

Bet far far more money is spent on that then someone who got his noggen split due to not wearing a helmet, our own people without insurance. or possibly combined

which poses the question:

weren't the Iraquis happier before the US invaded? :P

A lot of inocent people would not be dead right now if it weren't for that poorly planned, poorly executed and totally unjustified war. :(

Do you know what I'm tryin to say?

Someone for the protection of innocent civilians and well these terroists kinda try and find for the same thing, but don't..
