What about RAID? is this something I need to worry about?
Also, I plan on using this machine for converting old videos to DVD format, so I probably need a very large Hard Drive, right?
Two seperate drives?
Does the Hard Drive affect Aces High frame rates?
Any thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hi John.
EDIE is cheaper somewhat, but SATA is faster.
Raid, is good for keeping backs of data and/or system files
for what u want to do. id go this way probably.
Main HD (op system and program files)
74 gig Raptor 10k rpm SATA (will boot u up and run progs faster)
work HDs (use raid to keep back up data automaticly)
2 SATA 200 gig 8mb cache 7200 rpm ( if u plan on doing ALOT of converting work then u can go bigger yet on gigs)
also remember CPU and RAM will have a effect on ur converting.
id say ull need 2 to 4 gig of ram to make it easier on ur system
CPU u can do it with 1 but u tie up ur system while its encoding.
id say get a duel cpu system or wait alittle while and get a
Intel or AMD duel core CPU. that way u can have 1 core for encoding and 1 core for surfin/playing or what ever.
