I don't know about the digital/game stuff, but our group goes to ITT to recruit as a last resort. You'll pay to much money to get a degree that's not really worth anything.

You're better off going to the CC and getting a technical degree. It's a hell of a lot cheaper. Either that or go to a CC for a transfer degree in engineering (one that transfer to a state college).

Its only going to cost $67,000 for all 4 years.  I have articles that shows that ITT Tech is the best game design college in the US, but then i read articles about how ITT was being investigated for frade (Not sure i spelt that right).  My grandpa, who lives in AZ, has sent me 10 articles totaling 80 some pages about ITT's frade problem.  Again, i really want to do game design and development!  I love computers and I LOVE playing games.

Every company I have ever worked for(were I was part of the interview team) looked at anyone with Devry/Itt/Etc " degree as just like not having anything.  But that was with Support and QA.

I doubt eng would look at it that diferently.

Jr C to State C would be a better way to go.

I can vouch for that.  I went and couldn't find a job in the Tech field to save my life.  A year and a half later I am still looking.  Although the job I have now is over $10/hour...but not much more.

DO NOT PAY $17000 PER YEAR FOR A TECHNICAL DEGREE!!!!

Sorry, but I had to say that.

Take 4 years and become an engineer. It will open more doors for half the cost.

Might be hard words to heed, EagleEyes, if you've already halfway made up your mind for ITT.   But listen to these guys, listen to your grandpa.   I think they know their stuff.

Im listening, thats why i posted it on here.  Thanks for all the input.  Pesonally i really do not want to be an engeneer.  Id love to go to a state college or a jr college, but the only problem is that i can't afford it.  Tuition is growing on average 15-20% a year.  Some of my friends are paying $67,000 a year!!  Again Thanks for all the input guys.  Its defenetly going to help in my decision making!

If you want a degree in computer games, DIgipen Institute of Technology (DIT), Full Sail are places to go. There are a couple of others that are good -- I think USC has a program now. Those schools train and place people in the game industry; get a degree from there, and you'll be working on computer games.

Now, working on computer games isn't exactly a great deal. The pay is lower compared to computer jobs with similar skill requirements. The hours are long, and the burnout rate is high. That all may change; but that's the way it is now.
Also, speaking as someone who's worked professionally in the field (both in the past and present), working on games is not at all the same as playing them.

In any case, before giving up on non-profit universities and semi-profitable specialized schools such as Full Sail and Digipen, call up their financial aid people, and find out how much _exactly_ it will cost. What sorts of loans are we talking? Scholarships? Grants?

If you decide those places are not for you, and you want a degree that will get you a job, a decent paying one, not necessarily in the game industry, go to your community college for a couple of years. If you have the motivation and the interest, you should be able to do well enough to be in an optimal position for transfer to a big school. And if not, community colleges give a decent education at a great price.

But ITT and DeVry are a joke. Hell, most engineers would be embarassed to teach there. I mean, you can do great there, and get an excellent education and have a lot of talent; but nobody is going to see ITT or DeVry on your resume and believe it.

$67,000?????

I got a 4 year in mechanical engineering for 54,000.  Course that was 12 years ago.

I have to agree with Mini.  If you going to spend that kind of coin go out and get a BS.  It will give you more options in the long run.  A technical degree in gaming is going to limit you to basically the gaming market and POSSIBLY entertainment (movies etc) doing CGI.

On top of that, everyone and their uncle wants to do games because its "easy" which equates to lots of competition for the available jobs.

Well, I'm a graduate of ITT with a BS in Telecommunications. I liked it much better then the local Jr College which was like high school all over. I went to UCF, I which I didn't care for either. ITT has a no B.S. approche and not time is wasted with crappy courses.

Now, my job when I got out in 98... I ended up with nice job 40k Tech job at AT&T Wireless. 9 months later I was lay'd off after the fall of the .dot com craze.  Now finding a job with my skills at the time there were so many of us that we were steping on each other.   I jumped trades and now work in the commerical refrigeration industry managing a nice size company.

All I have to say is think hard before you really lock yourself into one skill.

I had a friend that Went through ITT  He loved It,  I am not sure how mUch it helped him,  He Never Did well in normal colage,  So this was a great way for him to get a degree,  He is doing great in the programming field now.  But thenh i think we would have done well before.

I have not put much weight in a degree in the IT field.  Most of the people i know have degrees in other fields.  Some places It is a requirement But most guys i know doing interviewing  Dont hold one degree in any higher place then others.

I have to agree with those who tell you to go to a regular educational institution. Start out with 2 years in a JR college or a Community College. After that transfer to a 4 year institution. Start IMMEDIATELY at looking for tuition assistance. There are litterally millions of $ out there that go unclaimed because people don't put in for scholarships, grants and loans. You are actually behind the curve now in looking for money.

Go to the local community college now and start the process for finding $ for school. Don't go to ITT tech you'll find later it was a waste of your time and $ when it doesn't help you get a job
