How about those MLB records set by Mariners?

40-12

No team has ever had a 20 win month in April, or a 20 win month in May.

Gooooo Mariners!

No "Yankees" payroll, no Superstar, 3 players voted for all-star game, including the Rookie Japanese player, and Lou coaches the AL team.

I've been waiting for this for over 30 years.  Its some of the best baseball playing I've ever seen.

I hope A-Rod and Jr are happy with their new homes

44-12, won 16 series, lost 2 series, tied 1 series.  14 game win streak, all-time record for baseball is 19.  Look up all the teams that had a record like the M's do for starts, and you'll see some very famous "hall of fame" players.

At 45-12, the
Mariners have the third-best 57-game record in
baseball history. Only the 1912 New York Giants and the
1939 New York Yankees (both 46-11) were better after
57 games. "Wow," said Cameron. "I'll tell you what, it's
pretty fun. Every night, something different happens. It's
definitely a good feeling to help your team win a ballgame."

Ichiro is hardly a rookie in my opinion.  It'd be like sending Griffey or Helton to Japan and calling them rookies there.  Ichiro has what, 7 straight gold gloves in Japan and how many batting titles?   Sure, the pitching overall is much better in the Majors, but I'd say Japanese pitching on the whole is probably on par or better than AAA level.  What's the most impressive about the M's is that you're doing this with your starting staff!  They're good, but like you said, they're not stud staffs like the Yanks and Braves.

Besides, anytime Seattle gets rid of a great player they do awesome the next year.  Junior leaves and you go pretty far in the playoffs.  Pay-Rod leaves and you guys are tearing it up so far and the Rangers have one of the worst records in the majors (due to the fact they have the crappiest pitching staff in baseball!  USC has a better staff!)   :D

Well.. the naysayers were right.

The M's were only 30:15 after getting off to that beautiful 40:12 start.
