here's a clue....

(lean in closer).....

(closer)....

(in a whisper voice)  don't curse.

(GASP)

you mean this is a family game?  we shouldn't have to explain to our 7yr olds what ST*U means?  Wait, you mean some people are actually offended by vulgar language?

If you woulnd't say it in a kindergarten class, don't say it (type it) in AH.

PRETTY simple.  Doesn't take a genius to understand.

I'll tell you what ticks me off, guys mouthing off typing things that are offensive, and think they have a right to do so.  Well, guess what?  You don't.  Don't like it?  Go make your own sim, and let anybody say or type anything you want, because in THIS sim, HT has made it very clear they do not want that sort of things said or typed in THEIR game.

Sure i've heard worse.  Sure people do it all the time.  Doesn't make it ok, or acceptable.

(sigh... mumbles something about how quickie divorces were the downfall of our society and slinks over to the WidowMaker Pleasure Barn (TM) to pay a visit to Jenny)

lol we are buds brother.  Sorry if it seemed I came down a bit strong, but this has always been a sore topic for me.

bear in mind 'bout 1/2 that was tongue in cheek.

Just because you see 50x worse things, doesn't condone your actions though.  Just because (insert name) shot 50 people and got away with it, doesn't mean you can shoot one and it's ok.  Sure that's a bit extreme of an example, but it's correct.  The actions of others do not justify negative behavior.

(hands Sniper a day pass to the Widow Maker Pleasure Barn (TM) and tells 'em to enjoy himself.  The Guiness is cold, and Jenny is off limits.  Spare Velcro Gloves and Hoof Holder Boots(tm) are in the tack room)

(edit) this IS a family game.  My kids love to watch, and when they were old enough they flew as well.  It's also not just about children.  Some people find vulgarity offensive, which it is, and per HT they don't have to listen to it / read it in AH.

(edit edit) moderators are doing their best.  Do I think HT is doing the best job w/ the moderator program?  No.  BUT it's all we have.

DANG IT quit editing your post

I could agree a TOS statment should be posted on the home page.  If it is, I missed it just now when looking for it.  It's bedtime here, but 2morrow I will dig up several threads where HT stated his opinion re. vulgarity and profanity.  He has quite the low tolerance towards it.

On the topic of moderators, how DOES one become one?  What are the perks?  Free account etc?  I would be happy to volunteer my services (gawd help us) as a moderator.  I might have gotten mouthy in the past on chn 200, but ya' never saw me curse.  When I 1st started flying flight sims, I worked for AOL, and if I did a TOS violation in one of their games and got my work account locked (could fly free on work account) they got very ticked off.  So I kinda got in the habbit of watching what I said early on.  Be hard pressed to find anybody to say I behave poory when flying, well, except for the guys I kill over and over.  They prob. don't like me that much .

(opens arms wide for sniper) Now give us a big hug!  Are you my wittle guy? yes you are! yes you are! good boy!

they do seem to be a bit....selective.

had an issue i emailed about couple weeks ago now.  bad trend taking forming.

so, i was told mods log off and none will be on sometimes, then in game, Rod, said there is always a mod on, which is true?  Rod was pretty sure of himself...

Yeah the automatic program made me chuckle the other day when I went to tell a guy "great fight".  His handle had the work **** in it, completely acceptable although I can't remember the squad name.  Something like "Fighting *****" ect.  so I tried to type "Great Flying ....****" and I got the ole warning and felt bad for a second before laughing at it.  Pretty sad HTC has to have that in there but unfortunately because of language jerks they do.

I have never been muted by a living person, and only once by the auto-moderator for using 'FAC'  (forward air controller) once in a sentence.

I honestly don't see the problem with the moderators. I've made some rather crude jokes without using descriptive language and I've still been ignored.

Again, I don't understand the problem (tho, I admit muting someone for STFU is a bit excessive). Its even funnier when you can say whatever you want in a foreign language and get away with it. I remember a certain Dutch pilot testing it continuously one night :)
