I am looking for some help on getting the radio function to work properly, the gang I usually fly with and I used to use game voice, but now would like to use the AH radio function to chat while flying, I have looked at the instructions but am not having any luck, occasionally I can hear one of the others, does anyone use this consistently to chat or is their another program out their that they have found works well ?

Just type in the text box  .radio 5 XXX

XXX = the channel number you want to tune to.

You can also type .radio 5 username to tune in one person specificly.

Radio channels 1-4 are text only.

:)

Thanks Mad dowg
As mentioned until recently we used game voice, I have tried Roger wilco and found the sound quality to be less than great

When using the radio function once the radio command is issued can you then chat normally or does this have to be typed each time you want to chat?
and does this support as many people as need be in the chat who know the channel?

Keg, I think his post was quite clear that he had been using an out-of-game vox in the past.  Why would he have needed to learn the in-game one?
What problem are you having with the in-game vox?  set it up in the SETUP area.  Then to talk in Range (people around you) the F-12 key (could be wrong on the key..been a while..I have mine mapped to my j/s) . To talk to squadies, call up the radio bar using the "/" key and in box #5 type in the radio channel they are using.  To talk in the channel you selected, press the "T" key

to use AH voice (built in) you need to do a few things.

first off make sure the keys are mapped properly. the default AH keys are:

F12 - range voice
T - channel voice

they work as follows:

"Range" voice is activated by holding down the F12 key and talking into your mic. anyone within approximatly 6000 yards fo you will hear what you transmit. this channel is not tunable it is on by default

"Channel" voice is activated by holding down the T key and talking into your mic.

tuning the radio works like this:

channels 101-199 are for anyone in your country. anyone on the same channel as you will hear what you transmit as long as they are in your country, no matter what distance away on the map.

channels 201-299 global voice channels. if say you are a knight tuned to channel 203, and a bishop is tuned to 203 you will be able to converse with each other.

Channel radio can also be set to "Squad" "mission" or to an individual player's CIPD. if you tuen to say "JB73" only i will hear what you say, and i would have top manually tune to you to talk back.

this tunable channel vox is radio set 5. the default key command to change it is:

.radio 5 XXXXXXX

where XXXXXXX is what you want it set to.

you may also hit / bring up the radio buffer, and manually insert the frequency, or use the drop down menu.

in game there are some other vox features under the setup / preferences / voice menu

enable tunable and range beeps is where you hear the "beep" when someone starts to transmit.

the volume sliders are:

mic volume - your mic volume

play volume - how loud you hear other peoples vox

effect volume - when someone talks, you can have the games sounds cut out fully, or just a bit, or none at all.

hope that all helps
I don't know what to put here yet.

Somewhere in the setup option sub-catagories is a menu labeled "Voice"  Go into that and check your microphone level.  Also has three options to check, like "Wave in" etc.  Fiddle with that.
Im assuming your microphone is set to work in windows since you had been using another vox prog.  May want to check windows to see if microphone is selected in the audio setup

Im not sure how long you have been attempting to use the vox..if only one time, its quite possible that the in-game vox was acting up like it usually does.  Sometimes works great, other times you can hear some people and not others, or vox is whiped out for everyone. Usually when vox goes out, exiting the game (to desktop) and coming back in generally solves the problem and resets the vox by doing this.  They have a .resetv command that was designed to reset a lost vox connection, but I have yet to have this command solve the problem.

DammedRen, Next time can you try the individual resets, and post which one worked.

If and when I lose it again I`d be happy to. I thought it worked fine.
