I think the lag would be there either way...youjustnotice it more since your system is giving you double the FPS. Sounds like it all came togeather pretty well....run an aquamark for me when you can...

Hmmm.....you have an issue of some kind at defaults. My score "stock" is about 62,000....I've pushed it over 70,000 OC'ing.

Now I'm running a X800 pro which is a better card....but your getting better performance in AH.

Toms benchmarks the X800 pro at 56,206 and the 9800 pro at 44,707 in aquamark 3. They used an intel P4 3.2...a significantlyless powerful box then you have.

http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20041004/vga_charts-04.html#aquamark_3

Mysystem is:

DFI Lanparty (754)
AMD 64 3200+
1 gig PC3200 (mushkin)
onboard sound

You've got a faster proccessor, better memory and a soundcard...you should be well over the benchmark they got and close to me....

Sounds like you have your AA and/or AF settings turned up while benchmarking, make sure they are set to aplication controled then run aquamark. I've got the same cpu as you with a 6800gt and 512M of cheep cas 3 ram and I can hit 65,000.

THe 6800GT is an even higher end card then mine....devil is running a 9800 pro. I dont know if he could even hit 60,000 tweaked...but he's well under the toms benchmark. Youmight be right on the AA setting....but Ithink Aquamark runs at 4xAA anyway...so he'd have to have it even higher. I'd guess he loaded the drivers that came with the card and didnt go out to the net and update them...that can make a bigbig difference on an older card.

my first guess would be windows processes running int he background

my second guess would be some type of spyware

both would show up as "lag" on your FE big time, and with a new system just fresh plugged in, it might not have all the tweaks / security you had in the past
I don't know what to put here yet.

That sounds about right for your video card, aquamark test the card more than the processor. Try NBench3 to see how your cpu is doing, you should hit 3300 to 3500.
You should be able to run AH at 4x AA with no problem. AF doesn't do anything for AH so leave it off.

If youre lagging and getting warps it indicates some kind of a network problem. Run a trace to HTC with pingplotter and post the results.

It's possible that you got some problem in your networking hardware which you changed along with the rest of the system.

35 hops????

Whoa!  Thought mine was bad with 14!

Generally speaking the more hops the worse the connect.

Used to have 12 but savvis net just recently has added in about 2 extra hops on all my connects.

Dialup here.
