I just got one of these newfangled LCD monitors. It's cool, but the colors are all jacked up. It came with a color calibration utility, but it's all written in engrish (as is the help file). As a result, my grays have a slight green tint to them, blue looks all screwed up, and yellows are too dark.

I've been trying to figure out the color calibration thing, but not being an art or engrish major, I can't figure out what to do with a patterned square in a solid colored box on a patterned background that changes color if I drag the little inner square around.

Does anyone have any tricks for color calibrating an LCD monitor? Programs to use?

It's a samsung 930b, if that helps.

Usually they are just fine by default. Why did you mess with it?

Revert it to default settings.

Because it wasn't fine by default. Reverting to default settings will, of course, restore it to its normal screwed up color settings.

You've got a malfunctioning display if the colors are so badly messed up that you need to adjust them.

Or are you doing professional graphics on your screen?

Nope, just trying to get it so the colors come at least close to my old crt monitor.

Are you sure your old crt monitor had a correct color balance?

CRT's lose contrast, focus and color balance as they age. It's possible that your new LCD has a far more accurate balance now.

Then again it's possible that your LCD is just a faulty specimen from the factory. You should compare its picture to similar LCDs and if it looks still bad you need to return it or service it.

My old CRT was fine. This one has grays with a distinctive green shade to them (by default)

I've tried playing with just about every setting I can, and fixing one thing screws up something else.

Just wondering if there were any good utilities for this. If not, back it goes.

The green color is a common problem with tft's. However I've never seen anyone troubling themselves with it meaning the problem is quite small and non relevant to anyone except visual professionals.

It's possible that your colors are really messed up (beyond specs.) Hard to tell from here.

If you can't easily fix the problem through normal RGB adjustments I doubt that any program can help you any further.

Tarmac go through your menu settings on your monitor and look for "Color Temperature" make sure its not on 6500*k
