He-162 possible plane?
« on: April 28, 2005, 09:56:31 PM »
I,as a fan of the 162 think it would be a neat plane to include,And possibly allow for a so called "entry level" Jet Fighter,Sinc e 262's are incredible expensive,But the Komet has low ammo loads and only 5 minutes of fuel.I have a bit of 3d modelling experierce and could probably pull off a model to the same caliber of detail as the others.

Here is a photo for reference.

Unfortunately, the AH team needs to do the models.  To include it in their game, the models must be done their way so that later on they can change it.

So we just wait.

while i would love to have this plane in AH i think it will have to have almost the same perk value as a 262. Why? well it may only have one engine, but its performance isnt that far off the 262, it was a better turner, although broke up often. if a 262 is 200 perks, id say this would have to be 150-175 itself......

also i believe to be fair we should have the British jet added first to "even" it up....although personaly id rather have the 162 anyday ;)

I'd like to see it. It's fun to fly in IL-2.

It'd be cool..

but I don't think it has a place in AH.

Why's that? They saw combat (abliet limited), and even claimed a Tempest V kill. It had a pretty short endurance (30 minutes), and discarded the 2x MK108 30mm for 2x20mm MG151's. With the burn multiplier it would have short legs, firepower slightly less than a Dora, and it was pretty fragile overall due to the construction. Imagine how easy it'd take engine hits.

Give it a perk price of double a 163, and maybe 25-35% less than a 262, and it'd be a great jet option.

This and the Meteor III released at the same time would be sweet.

Those specs make it vastly superior to Me262, 40mph faster on the deck, 25mph faster at 20k and a vastly superior climber so we know it accelerates better. It is also a better turner.

Trouble is, the 162 had very limited late war use like the cannon Hog, so if it were used too much, it would be more like one of those 1946 what if scenarios (including the F7F, F8F, P-82, B-32, P-80 and other late arrivals).

Would assume they would model the wings falling off because the glue wasn't up to the job?

By 45' didn't every "major" nation have a jet and squad or two fully equiped?

Add them all i say, why should the germans have all the jet lovein' fun?

and yeah, i know the other nations jets are under par in speed and performance, but it would not stop the vets from flying them just to waste a few perks, only reason people dont fly more jets in ah2 is because A: we dont have them "thank you captian obvious" B: the 262 is a 262,most have been flying that thing from the war birds days, there is nothing fancy about them at all. Same green monster.

Its about planes, and pilots. ONCE everything is added "ww2 plane wise", im willing to bet aces high will add a few bi planes, and maby a few other jets, just for kicks.
anyones guess as to when,or how long it will take. :p
