New name for the CT?
« on: April 29, 2005, 07:10:59 PM »
Does anyone think that renaming the CT would increase interest?

I played in the CT a lot when I first joined  - the whole chess piece thing did my hea din after FA - most newbs have no idea of what the CT is and it's the only place you get to fly the whole range of a/c against their historical enemy.

Perhaps Axis vs Allies........

It's been brought up before. WWII Arena, Axis and Allied Arena , Historic Arena, just to name a few. Your right though , it needs a new name.:)

Every theater and arena features combat, so no wonder Combat Theater doesn't tell anyone anything.  Because CT emphasizes specific historical fights and matchups, a more descriptive title would be:

Battle Arena

or

Historic Theater

or, maybe best of all ...

Sometimes the battles aren't neccesarily historic, per say, but what-if type stuff. What then?

What about "Theater of War?" Hmmm ... ok ... not so different.

There is a banner that tells people what it is but that's only good for the forum visitors (and the link is dead. Damn me.)

Yeah, Arlo, but MOST the CT fights are at least same period matchups, right?  I was thinking about the fun Central American matchup with late WWII fighters.  It was historic although it occurred after WWII, if I recall correctly.

How about ...

Actual or Likely Mostly Historical Matchup Fights Arena

or, eureka!

Scenario Theater

Scenarios have always been the essence of Combat Theater: specific limited engagments re-creating limited time engagements between historically matched-up equipment or occasionally offering what-if limited time engagements between historically matched-up equipment.

And ... and ... the Main Arena and all AH areas have combat, but ONLY the Scenario Theater has ... scenarios!

scenario:  "an outline for any proposed or planned series of events, real or imagined."  (Webster's New World Dictionary)
