Anyone watching this new series on Discovery on Tuesday nights?
I believe this coming week will be the 4th or 5th in a series.
These guys have cold steel cajones the size of grapefruits.
Best thing Discovery has done in a while.
Even has a Budwhizzer scoreboard to keep track of the King crab caught by each crew.

yea I've seen one of the first episodes and it was pretty interesting the work these guys do.  Apparently they make good money otherwise what's the point.  Huge Brass ones is all I can say.

I stumbled across it last night while surfing for anything decent to watch.....and ended up watching about 4 episodes back to back.  I gotta say a couple of those young kids were major whiners but those are some brave dudes out there in that weather and elements on a little fishing boat.  Amazing that the season only lasts a couple of days but the boat can pull in an unbelievable amount of money if they can find a good spot with a lot of crab.

They had a special on the Discovery Channel at least 5 or 6 years, maybe more, ago about Crabbers. Guess they decided to turn it into a reality TV series.

Havnt seen it yet, but have seen the previews for a while, just cant catch it :P
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Firefighting is known to be a hazardous job; out of roughly a million firefighters in the US, about 100 die each year on the job.  That’s about one in 10,000.  There are about 20,000 commercial fishermen in Alaska, of which about 20 or more die.  That’s about 1 in 1,000 (or worse).  Commercial fishing in Alaska is at least 10 times as dangerous as firefighting.  Most of the deaths come from certain kinds of fishing.

Deaths aside, most of the commercial fishermen in Alaska that I knew had battle scars or missing digits.  If you meet an Alaska fisherman with all of his fingers, he’s probably a newbie.

I used to be jealous of my friends that would rake in $30,000 to $60,000 in a short summer, until I saw how dangerous it is.

I didn't see the show, but i've heard that king crab fishing has one of the highest mortality rates of any profession.  I've heard that people fall overboard and even lose limbs to rope sear.  sometimes the whole boat gets lost.  Not positive, but I've heard that a crewman can make $50,000 or more in one season.

If anyone thinks this sounds good, I'm trying to organise an expidition to  Antarctica in a john boat!
