Just wanted to pop in here and say hi to all my old buds from Air Warrior days and apologize for not making it to the convention this year after you all took the time to call me and invite me personally. It really wasn't a good time for me to do that since I was unemployed and unsure about my future.
Well things are much better now. I have moved to Longview and am working for the city as a system analyst and absolutely love the job and the city. I'm so glad to be out of Shreveport and over here in Texas, where I belong.
I'm still doing the Everquest thing but have these desires at times to go flying again. I had an AH account for two years or so and probably flew about four times. I hope Dale appreciates the revenue he made off of me without having to even send any packets my way. :-) I closed the account shortly after moving over here as I had to curb my expenses a bit after the lengthy unemployment period.
I may very well recreate my account again and try to get back in the air again. I'm rusty as hell and would be good cannon fodder for all you aces, but it would still be good fun overall to fly the unfriendly skies again.
Wanted to also let you know that I just found out yesterday that one of the city's part-time employees was a B-25 bomber pilot in the 13th AF who flew 67 missions, mostly low-level strafing runs. I rushed over to speak with him as soon as I found out and we talked for about 30 minutes. I had to get back to work but in the short time we talked, he told me a lot and we hit it off pretty good. I'm looking forward to chatting with him again asap. He, thankfully, is one of those who doesn't mind talking about his experiences and I hope to gather as much knowledge from him as he is willing to give. He's a great old man, as humble as most of these old vets are, but it's easy to see that he was one of the brave ones that did their duty as they were called on to do and deserve all the respect we can give them.
Thanks again for the nice invite to the con this year. Hopefully, I can attend the 2005 version and shoot the bull with you all again. My email is
jrichards@cablelynx.com if you need to contact me. I'll check back in here also and try to keep in contact a little better than in the past. Keep the sunny side up.
