Good post as always, but the forum is wrong I'm afraid. But anyway that looks nice. I might give it a whirl some day.

I guess I don't have anywhere enough buttons on my joystick to play that one... is the manual the size of a phonebook?

Orbiter is one of the better simulators out there - and its free. The only problem is, interplanetary spaceflight is very complex, there are no missions, nor a campaign - and you canīt shoot anything. This makes it totally unsuitable for the majority of AcesHighs player base :D

I do enjoy the thrill of a wellplanned orbital maneuver, or aerobraking into orbit after a lenghty journey to mars (there is timecompression available), but even to those with a vivid imagination the ultimate sense of reward is missing.

This is, however, the best simulator for realistic spacetravel there is to be had outside NASA.  :aok

This is very rewarding if you love watching liftoffs.

There most certainly are missions! With all the various addons you can recreate almost any mission NASA has done. My favorites are project Gemini missions complete with a spacewalk.

If all you care about is kills and scoring points, this sim is not for you. But if you are thrilled by MS Flight Simulator where you just tool around and enjoy the ride in almost any airplane that ever flew, this ride will blow you away.

There are even some science fiction addons such as flying an Eagle from Space:1999 over Moonbase Alpha.

Of course, once you have seen everything you like and made cool desktop images from screenshots, you can go back to combat flying :)

I basically install and play this sim once a year to see all the progress that has been made.

Wolfala is into this.  I D/Led it once and tried it out but it's really not my bag.

Martin Schweiger is a very talented programer.  I wish I had the time to learn his simulation.

NASA should build the Delta Glider!

IMO its best spacecraft ever designed, especially the version with ramjets.

I'm trying it now, thanks to this post I see I have something else to use up all of me time :)  It's fun so far (btw the pdf manual is 117 pages), although time warping is dangerous....trying to get into orbit and doing a warp (like the manual suggested) I popped the T button a few too many times and then used the thrusters (yes they work in time warp too)....by the time I got back to normal time I was in a spin I could not get out of (tried manually for 10 minutes to get out of it before I gave up).....second time getting into orbit I hit T way too many times and ended up flinging away from Earth and approaching orbit of the sun.....third time will be a charm, I am 2 minutes away from final burn to make an orbit.
