Book Contest
« on: May 04, 2005, 10:37:29 PM »
Three of my great loves are reading, trivia, and giving (and receiving come to think of it) gifts. Accordingly, I decided to combine the three into a trivia contest free book giveaway. I dunno how often I'll be able to do this (depends on my cash flow) but I'll try to do this more than once and gradually give away new copies some of the books I've particularly enjoyed of late.

So, let the games begin! The first person to get all of these correct wins a new copy of 6 Modern Myths About Christianity and Western Civilization by Phillip J. Sampson.

1) The book "Scapegoats of the Empire" was made into this film.

2) This was the bloodiest battle of World War One

3) "We few, we happy few, we band of brothers" - Shakespeare has which king say this before which battle?

4) What is Lagavulin?

5)  Where does the Play "No Exit" take place?

6) What is the name of Atticus Finch's daughter?

7) What does the name Stalin mean?

8) What was the occupation of the author of Go Rin No Sho

9) What popular Chinese game is played with tiles?

10) Augustine was initially a follower of this Persian religion

11) Which biblical character discusses Hell the most?

12) Where was the Battle of Bunker Hill fought?

13) Which British Admiral won a battle by putting his telescope to his blind eye?

14) What was the worst loss of life in a single ship sinking in the history of the US Navy?

15) Which philosopher is considered the founder of Nihilism?

16) Where did Leon Trotsky die?

17) Which book are the characters Formalist and Mr. Money-love from?

18) Why was the deployment of the ME-262 delayed so long?

19) R. J. Mitchell was the designer of what famous aircraft?

20) What is the primary ingredient in a Souffle?

21) Who gave Stonewall Jackson his nickname?

22) What is the closest star to the earth?

23) Who is the hero of The Ramayana

24) Which Famous Atheist Philosopher recently declared he now believes in God?

25) What is the name of the monster Beowulf mortally wounds with his bare hands?

26) What is Gin made out of?

27) Whose dying words included "I would give worlds, if I had them, that Age of Reason had not been published."

28) Which famous British poet died in 1824 in the Greek rebellion?

29) The nickname for British soldiers comes from what longer name?

30) Which theme song includes the line "I'm all alone, more or less"?
SEAGOON aka Pastor Andy Webb

Gin is distilled from fermented grain, usually wheat or rye and then flavored with juniper berries and other botanicals.
