Yes, I know.
I feel that the states may have had a valid case, but I have no sypathy for these lawsuits when brought by the consumers. They had fair warning.
The states on the other hand have found themselves paying through the nose for the medical care for people who smoked. The states do that with tax dollars. That means you and I are both paying for the medical care of these people. The states were suing to get some of our tax dollars back.
That's why I think the states may have been justified but tabacco consumers should be SOL as far as lawsuits are concerned.
I can partialy accept that, except if you follow the money and see where it ends up, ie. hands of lawyers. Then there is the fact that we are forced to pay into mediscare/social security so they should get the medical care. BTW, medicare is about the only tax i don't mind paying, besides our sales tax here in Tx.
They shouldn't even let these people sew over this crap. They've known for hundreds of years that tabaco harms health. I lost my grandfather at age 4 to cancer, so I've known for at least 28 years how bad the stuff is, yet I'm stupid/addicted enough to keep right on doing it. BUT I would never consider sewing Winston or Marlboro for something I did to myself.
Maybe I should sew stop n go for selling them to me when I was under age? Oops can't do that I have a conscience!!!!!
