He was put in for the Medal of Honor three times; the last application is currently under review at the Pentagon. He was twice awarded the Army's second highest honor for valor, the Distinguished Service Cross, along with 10 Silver Stars and eight Bronze Stars. When asked about his many awards, he always said he was proudest of his eight Purple Hearts and his Combat Infantryman's Badge.

Oh ****. It seemed like he was fading recently. Damm.

I can't believe he was 74 years old. He seemed much younger than that.

He was the best of the very best.

When I read hazardous duty I could not stop laughing about how he got the scoop during the gulf war.

He had a retired military ID card so that got him access to alot of things that regular reporters did not.  When that didn't work he had an official looking letter signed by a fictitious General ordering all to give "hack" what ever assistance he needs.

Yeah, most people do not realize that he was in Europe in World War II, and actually met Ike.

I did not always agree with him, but I could always respect and understand his position.

He was an honest and loyal servant of his country, a patriot in the truest sense of the word.
