Just a Thought

I was wondering if HTC got rid of the entire score system.

1. people would stay for the fight
2. no scorepotatos
3. more interesting fights
4. lots of angry replys lol

That is definitely the case.  The Beta's (no scores)  have always had better fights.

The problem is they have to provide scores for the game to appeal to the "score-minded" , which is a large chunk of the audience.   The biggest shame is the fact that total score is linked to GV's and buffs etc.  The only reason many people do that stuff is for the score, which is artificially taking the focus away from fighter combat.

What if scores were only squad based? Only your squad can see them? (Some squads use that to rank their guys.)

Personaly, I'd like to see no scores, since it don't matter anyway.

in TOD it sure would rock if there was no score just military rank, tho it seems alot of ppl out there just love to game the game and forget what its all about, and what its all about is no where near what ma is!

I'M all about score and rank! I would be appalled if they took it away! That is the only fun in the game. Why not just take away the lala and the 109s geeze you people are crazy!

Funny.  For me the only fun in the game is flying around and shooting holes in stuff, or dieing trying. I dont even know HOW to check my score (and if I did, I'd be affraid to look :rofl )

I dont mean to rag on anyone, but how can you get enjoyment out of a number?

TAILS, that was a troll. Mega's got 1 of the lowest scores in the game. Plus, he's just plain no good.

Iv'e stated this from day one, if a game is driven by points, perks, numbers, rank or score then most {not all} will play the game for those reasons.

Myself, I could give a you-know-what about scores and ranks. Who bloody cares, there's always someone better than you the next day anyways.

Score will give you ulcers, make you go bald sooner, and in general mess with your game.

Rank is virtually useless, as almost anyone can bomb a sortie, GV a sortie, and fly goon a sortie a couple times a week and get good rank.

I agree for TOD we need to redo rank, and it should be out of sight on our part.

As you fly & fight your rank would be adjusted depending on sucess,  successfull landings, etc.

I am not against keeping score.  There are many players that enjoy playing for score and it is a great hook to keep players paying the bills.

However, I believe the prominence of the RANKING on the ROSTER creates a negative influence on the MA and community as a whole.  Noname + Norank = being ignored or ridiculed.  Not a great way to introduce the game to newbies.  Think of other online games that don't include RANK next to your name.  Generaly much more laid back and social.

2 ideas/solutions:

Remove rank from roster and make the info web based only for those who enjoy it.  My first flight sim FA used this and it worked imo.  Maybe just keep the .command for those that must look up scores.


Offer an option to 'not keep score' for those players that would like to play without the 'pressure'.
