So how is it?
« on: May 09, 2005, 11:59:07 AM »
due to my rediculous schedule and my wifes chronic whining, i had to cancel my AH account about 14 months ago.  I never got to see AH2.  Just wondering if it is as good as i thoght it was going to be?  And what are the major diffs in gameplay?
And could I have a 2 week trial for free?

Too much of a drain on the system. The trees are ridiculous. Usual bugs are still cropping up in flight, damage, and weapons.

But the gunnery... By GOD the gunnery!!!! No more thinking that "1k" is inside guns range. No more oversized hit bubbles that let you ping things from 1.3k (with luck). No more speck-on-the-horizon killings!!! 600 is pushing it. You might ping them at 800, but 200-400 is the kill zone.

It's fantastic!

yea. I noticed the frame rate was tuff to get with full detail.  I used to have a method to determine how good my upgrades affected my frame rate in AH1.  I would go to the baltic terrain, line up a formation of b17's on a runway (I forgot which one), move to exterior veiw, zoom out all the way and pan up at a 45Degree angle directly on thier 6 and check the frame rate.
  In AH1 I managed 23 frames per second with my 1.7gig p4 pc133 rig.

Now, I have a 2.6p4 clocked at 2.9gHz.  ATI 9800 pro, pc3500 mushkinRAM (1 gig) and was astounded to get 23 FPS in AH2!  Wow, I tgought.

I seem to remember HT or somebody saying there is no PC currently available that can utilize all of AH2's details/features.

Something along those lines.

Tis a system hog, dat's fer sure!
