Fw190A-5, SKG10, night attacker
« on: May 09, 2005, 07:25:20 PM »

Gonna give it a rest with the Fw190A-5s now. Probably will start working on A-8s later.

Found this profile of a Fw190A-5 belonging to the SKG10. It was painted mat-black and erased of all markings for performing night fighter/bomber operations, although it did not hold any specialized night-operations gear.

I couldn't find any specific info on the pilot, or the Gruppe, this Fw190A was with, so any info/help on this would be appreciated.

Interestingly, while looking up references for this bird I've found out that many of the Fw190As captured by the RAF, were from the SKG10.

The picture above, is enhanced in brightness and contrast to allow better overall view. When the night is dark and the moon is out, this bird is not so easily seen, without icons. :) Times like this, night time almost sounds good.

Here is another pic, to show what it looks like under daylight.

LOL! I KNEW someone would say that :D

Actually, this is the first new 190A-5 I was working on.

I was working on this bird when the new 190 3D models were announced and the word got out any new skins would be obsolete. So I had to wait a loooong time until the new 190s were out.

When the new 190 3D model was out, I resumed working on this bird and the basic coloring was finished, but had to wait until someone made the basic templates, so I can change it to my taste and use it. After my own version of templates were finished, I used Meyer's A-5 as a testbed, used the SG1 A-5 for testing out the material.txt settings...

and voila! Finished all the 190As I wanted to do with this bird. :)

We've got history, this bird and me :D

I can actually see myself taking it for a spin, but only because it's something more unique, not because I'd ever want to fly at night.
