I found the G2 in performance pretty similar to the C.205. And the C being better in the dive.

The C.205 is slower, climbs worse, turns worse, and has no droptank.

the G2 climbs like a Spitfire XIV. It is faster than the C.205, but wouldn't bet on the turning.
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

The only things that climb like a SpitXIV are the G10 and the Ki84. Period. G2 is nowhere near XIV, nor the G10. Both of those planes WAY outclimb it.

Sea level to 10k climb, starting at 300 mph, engaging WEP and auto-climb.

109G-10: 1:46.18
SpitXIV: 1:47.13
109G-2: 1:54.06 (without gondolas)
F4U-4: 1:55.67
P-38J: 2:03.55
109G-2: 2:04.00 (with gondolas)
Ki-84: 2:04.09
190D-9: 2:04.35
Tempest: 2:05.38
La-7: 2:06.91

Overall, the 109G-2 is the 3rd best climber, up in the game's elite group of fast climbing monsters.

In the world of AH, they are indeed very close. It goes on up to 20K at least, - I measured some 10 secs or so between them.

And a little edit: I should have measured up higher, for at 20K, the 109G2 was still on WEP.....
