Where is the line? If they were to just sit quietly and wait for people to come to them then they would never be heard. The reason they have such political power right now is because they made such a huge stink. It is not okay to think that we're better than animals because we have a sense of self. We didn't choose to evolve into this, it just happened. If we were really so great we wouldn't need to torture defensless animals. As for the Ingrid Newkirk quote, she can't really say that she's only against some testing and not others, then everyone from ar groups would attack her.
I agree that sometimes they get too out of control but they have good intentions.
They are not against having them as pets, they call them "companions" instead. They just don't like the word "pet".... they compare it to "slave".
I think a lot of this is selective reading. You can't just hear one side of a story and declair that as truth because it's more convienient. Yes, the radicals get out of control sometimes but unfortunately, that is what a lot of people hear about those groups so they assume all of them are equally radical.
I guess I'm getting a little off topic but I'm just trying to balance this board a little.
