Dev update
« on: May 13, 2005, 03:47:08 PM »
Hey everyone, sorry it’s been awhile without any news.  It’s been very hectic around here and we have a lot going on.  Things are picking up speed very fast around here and we’re getting good traction and the momentum is building.

For the past 5 years, we’ve had a convention every year in the late summer/fall.  We’re making an exception this year by pushing back the con about 6 months to early spring next year.  We want to do this for a few reasons, but the primary one is that a con in that time-frame would be too much of a conflict with ToD as far as our resources are concerned.  We also feel that by delaying the con, we can see greater attendance from ToD enthusisasts.  We hope that the delay is not too disappointing, but we think it will make for a much bigger and better convention in the end.

On the development front, we’re knee deep in ToD.  Sudz and HT have been developing some new technologies for ToD.  We’ve been doing a lot of development meetings to get ToD design wrapped up.  We’re still working on a lot of documentation and details but its coming together and we’re very enthused about it.  We know there’s a million questions about ToD and a lot of things about it have changed as we’ve worked through design issues.  We still have some important details to argue about and once we’re through that, we’ll open up a ToD forum where we’ll talk about all the stuff that’s going on with ToD.

The P-47s and P-51s are currently undergoing renovation.  New shapes have gone out to the skinner team for new skins, and Greebo, Waffle, Nomde, and Octavius are working on new textures for those planes.  Because of the amount of help that they are providing us, we’re going to try to take some of that time savings and spin off some new variants.  They’re really doing an amazing job.

The skinner team has really shown what great talents there are in the AH community that can make great contributions to the progress of the game.  We have another area where the talents of the community can really shine.  We’re looking to update and expand our television commercials and we believe the film making community in AH can put together a 30 second AH ad that will blow people away.  We’re putting together the rules for a contest to produce the best 30 second Aces High.  There will be a cash prize and the winning spot will air on television.  Details for this will be posted next week.

Skuzzy has been working on a redesign of our website.  This is another area where we want to showcase community contributions as much as possible in the form of articles, movies, screenshots, etc.   Our new website will be more content centric with new items appearing frequently.  We hope to make it an interesting site to visit and read even for those who don’t aspire to play Aces High.

Happy Friday.
