Those of you who have gotten a woody to make an ad for AH after reading Pyro’s statement: “We have another area where the talents of the community can really shine. We’re looking to update and expand our television commercials and we believe the film making community in AH can put together a 30 second AH ad that will blow people away. We’re putting together the rules for a contest to produce the best 30 second Aces High. There will be a cash prize and the winning spot will air on television. Details for this will be posted next week.” Keep in mind one critical concept: most of the folks who will be intrigued about AH TOD will be turned off if they see a MA-style Spitfire shooting down a Corsair or a 190 shooting down a JU-88. Historically accurate opponents will be essential to a selling ad.

.... wouldn't this be misrepresenting the product ?

IMHO, something more along the lines of a flight of 4 La7s and 3 Nikis attacking a 3-plane set of Lancasters which is flying nap of the earth in preparation for a pop-up suicide dive bomb on a CV would be MUCH more akin to the actual arena.

Guess we will see that people come up with... Ultimately it is up to HTC which one he wants to use. Just let the guys make them first; before you jump all over their work.

HTC is selling TOD - the upcoming historical mission based part of AH.

So give pyro what he wants.

And from my experience making AH films I would take him at his word - make exactly what pyro asks for now - HISTORICAL FILMS - and you will have a chance of making it on TV.

In other words DONT MAKE MA style films if you want to be on TV.

Why should you listen to me?

I made a film just like pyro asked for last time and it ended up on the TV commercial. If you saw the ad - I was the Me262 shooting up the B17s.

Pyro asked for just that, I got some guys together in b17s and 262s and we got to be on TV.

Point out there where they say TOD?

All I am trying to say is, let them make the films before we start jumping down peoples throats about how they should be. The rules aren't even out yet.

If one can capture in airplane form even 1/4 the "feeling" of this intro trailer to a game (one very long in the tooth and outdated), then you have a good movie.

Heres some neat things that a good video would show:

A flight of P-51s jettisoning drop tanks and peeling off.
A F6f shooting a Zero and the Zero catching on fire.
A single Tiger blowing away M8s and M3s.
Carrier landings.

Don't forget the tank turrent blowing off viewed through the gunsight.
Maybe a ground to air view of a couple of C-47 dropping troops, make that three, in formation.
