The new P-47 looks gorgeous, and considering the hideousness of the subject material that is saying a lot. :p

I like it.  Nice to see an update to the jug after all these years.  This looks like a nice canvas to paint on. :)

Some comments on the paint scheme and model: The upper wing roundel seems waaaay to big. I'm not familiar with how "Chow Hound" was painted, but 56th FG planes usually had an oversized roundel on the lower wing surface and normal sized on the top.  This I believe was to avoid friendly fire from the ground. Also, I'm not 100% sure of this (will have to refer to my sources when I get home), but the interior paint should be green, as yellow was only used on Curtiss-built P-47Gs.

As far as the 3d model, the guns look like they might be in line with the wing rather than the ground, although it is hard to tell at this angle, but the guns should be parallel with the ground.  The wingtips could use a few more polygons to make a smoother curve.  I find the chunkyness at the wingtip is ugly, and its kind of odd they would sacrifice polygons at such a noticeable location but put such fine detail into other parts.  See the nice detail on the undercarriage, canopy, and tail, for example, which are nicely done.

Belieive this bird is from the 509th Fighter Squadron / 405th Fighter group, not the 56th. It's using the 60" insignias on the upper wings instead of the type 4 insignia which were 39"

Wanted to check some things also - if my references serve me correct -

The first p47ds out of Farmingdale and all of the Evansville 47s followed the scheme of the zinc chromate on all internal unprotected surfaces, except for the cockpit which had black tint added to the zinc chromate, which would result in chromate green. US interior colors are screwy though - never really know what shade of green you'll find in the cockpit...

can imaginge this happened more than once: "no, it's ONE part black to 3 parts zinc...not 2., oh well paint it anyway" :)

disclaimer**I actually don't know the ratio**
