check Newegg.com.....my sapphire ATI 9600xt runs AHII very well and cost $138 when i got it 3 months ago. then memory, and look into cpu's. this is a very cpu hungry game, so the bigger the better, and socket 472's really aren't that expensive anymore.

If you are going to get an older ATI card, why not get a 9800 Pro 128MB card for about $125? Of course for $50 more you can get a 9800 Pro 256MB which would be better for running AH2 with high resolution textures and FSAA.

I don't have enough NVidia experience to compare/suggest an equivalent card for $130.

To the best of my knowledge, neither NVidia nor ATI sell anything for less than $200 (or $300 with 256MB RAM) that will even have a chance of beating out the 9800 Pro in both performance and image quality.

ya i've got alot of time on a 9800 pro (not in my machine) and i can tell you if you want bang for the buck, thats the way to go if you can get it that cheap

No matter how big of a video card you get, the CPU needs to keep up with it. You could get a duel-GPU card with a gigabyte of video RAM on that CPU and get the same FRs as someone with a 9800 or FX6800. I'm not saying you will, because I haven't tested it, but you get the idea.

The GeForce FX6800 is supposed to rival any ATI card and can be found for $219 (without the $30 mail in rebate) at NewEgg.

joetim, be aware it IS POSSIBLE to buy a new card and have NO improvement.  i did it years ago when the prob was my processor could not push the vid card beyond what my old card was running.

maybe you look into getting a new chip?
