Some pics and thoughts of New Mexico
« on: May 23, 2005, 12:07:39 PM »
First of all my wife and I could have flown to Europe in the time it took us to get there.  We had to fly to New York, then Dallas, then Albuquerque.  Our first flight left here at 8.00am, we arrived at about 6.00pm (9.00pm Bda time).

First impressions were good.  The "big sky" and mountains in the background were very cool.

What I liked:

Atomic museum
The prime rib at "High Finance".
The view from the mountains
Ballooning
The people...very friendly.

What I disliked:

The gaseous reaction I had to all the Mexican food (I hope that stops soon.)
Travel time
Didn't have a car
Unable to play golf due to bad back
Too much Mexican food

Anyway...here's a few low res pics of our trip:

Fat Man:

The reason many Americans are overweight...this is breakfast:

Trip to the top of the mountains:

View from the top:

90 degrees at the bottom...still some snow at the top

Sunset...had to leave the prime rib and snap a few

Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain

Some of our group getting ready for "lift off"

Up up and away...in my beautiful balloon

A little "splash and dash" action

Another splash and dash below us

Great fun.

Still scared of heights though.

nice pics Curval.

In the one of you by the bomb, you look like you might be a little stiff..... is your back still all messed up?

Isn't that strange to be in a desert one minute, and a few minutes later you are in the pines and snow? Sounds like you had a good trip.

We have friends with a cabin in Cloud Croft near Ruidosa.  It is a very nice part of the world to visit.

Beautiful pics Curval.  Looks like you had fun. The side effects of the Mex food will wear off but unfortunately you will be left w/ a craving for it that pops up, uncontrollably, at times.  My advice is that you locate a good Mexican joint, if one exists(no offense), in your homeland.

It sure is.  I was supposed to have it operated on June 2nd, but had to put it off to September.

Since your home is a dot surrounded by water.. did it seem weird to be up onna balloon.. a dot surrounded by sand?
