7-yr old son bags first bad guy!
« on: May 23, 2005, 12:47:19 PM »
I'm so proud:D.  My son, who turned 7 in April, was driving a panzer in the MA yesterday.  I went up stairs for a little bit when he runs up stairs and says he just shot a bunch of enemy troops and stopped the base from being captured (I'd left him guarding a map room).  I patted him on the head and told him what good job he was doing.  Back down he went to continue the fight.  A bit later he comes bounding up the stairs beaming like a new full moon.  "Daddy, Daddy, I killed an enemy tank!"

"Did you see him blow up?" I ask.

"Yeah, he went kaboom!"

What could I do except take him in my arms and tell him how proud I was.  It's good to be a dad.

By the way, whomever that was that he blew away, thanks for making a 7-year old's day.:aok

In a tank... it was probably me. I think a 2 year old could kill me in one of those things:D  Congrats on your young killers' 1st kill.

:)  Brings back fond memories of my early AW days.

My son took over the stick of my 38 while I had to run upstairs to do something.

I came back down and he asks me  "Who is Shiva?"

I laughed and asked why as Shiva was a guy I'd flown with some and against, who later was one of the original Nomads with me.

My son then replied  "I shot him down"

I looked at him funny wondering how he'd pulled it off as I'd dueled Shiva many times in 38s and it took me a long while before I finally had gotten to the point I could win one.  It was one of the first signs to me that I was actually not half bad at times.

Of course as my son got older he was always and still is better at whatever computer game happens to be on the computer at the time.  But at the time it was good for a laugh :)

WTG I remember my 6 year olds first kill, I was amazed and thrilled.
He took to it easy, aint that the way. damn kids.

now he always asks if daddys going to shoot down the bad guys.
I wouldn't trade that for the world.

but get ready for another 14.95 account, connection, pc and controls, he ain't never goning to leave ya alone when you want to fly while he is awake.

:aok That is great Sabre!
It will only get better.

My son "sondog" started flying off line at the age of 5 in my lap. He played around till he was about 7. At that age he started really trying to do it on his own.  In just a couple of months he was bagging the drones left and right.  That is when he and I started flying head to head. I also told him to practice flying in the opposite direction and shoot at the drones. Once he had that down I had him landing and taking off on fields and CV’s, flying through hangers and such. By the time he was 9 he as a pretty fair shot and could land 9 out of 10 times in just about anything. When he was 9 (about 10 months ago) I opened an account for him. His first time in the MA flying he shot down 2 aircraft. He went wild and was hooked from that moment on. He is going to be 10 this summer. He can level bomb, dive bomb, has some basic ACM down and knows what country every single aircraft is from in Aces High. He only gets to fly a couple times a week, but he loves the sim and really enjoys all my squadies. In the not to distant future I want to hook him up with some good sticks. Maybe one of the guys in the TA I know or someone else that would want to teach him what I don’t have the knowledge or skill to do. Over all I would say he is an average stick which is pretty good for 9 years of age. :)

I was a week or so into  AW4W many years ago taking a P51 to b lands spit factory on escort for a lone B17.

My first escort and its along journey with not much happening.

My youngest wants to have  ago at this new game I have found and whilst there is nothing about i let him at the mouse (had not yet bought a JS and had not yet shot any thing down "alone")

Up in front climbs a spit and I decide to let him have a go. He starts to fire way out and just as I am telling him there is no chance from that range the  spit goes pop and my text line reads "A kill has been recorded" for the first time.

Mixed emotions!

My cat shot a guy down one time in another game, CFS (Combat Flight Simulator). I was flying behind this guy and my cat jumps on the key board to be petted. I stated scrimming saying im trying to kill someone. She hits the space bar and shoots down the guy. I then hugged my cat and said nice shot.
