manned field ack/ship gun kills
« on: May 23, 2005, 02:45:33 PM »
question.... is manned gunned kills recorded for scoring? and where does those those kills and assist from manned guns go get logged  under?  fighter- attack-bomber- vehicle?  I know there in the clipboard scoring at bottom, but from there, where?
logged under what?

I ask because there is no place in scoring for manned gun kills that i see. I wonder where do those kills / asst  go?  And why no perks?

Is it a non paying job like gooning or M-3ing vh supplies to someone?

yes

LOL i like the term "non paying" hehehehe

manned guns do not count toward score, and IIRC you don't get any perks anymore
I don't know what to put here yet.

perkwise,
if you mean GV supplies, it is a paying job , though its low pay.
trick is; you have to stay up, while supplies get loaded (used) by other players.

I wish you could "bail" from an ack gun or ships gun so you can avoid the shame and  embarassment of seeing "Grits landed 5 kills in a 5" tard gun" spalshed across the text buffer.

Before factories re-upped in minutes, M3 supply runs to a completly demolished factory brought in big time perks in the 70's I believe.

The 5" guns are mindless mayhem :)

I say they should stay. :aok

And I agree that you shouldn't get any points for shooting in the plane.  It shouldn't even count in any of your stats. Nor should you be given credit for the kills in a text buffer when your ship gets sunk.

I would like the message to the guy that got shot down to read "Manned Ack shot you down"  That way the guy hammering you doesn't get any credit.  He should however see a message like "You shot down a P51B,  #3"  or "You shot down a PT boat,  #4"

No risk should = no reward.

I disagree with the "no risk, no reward comment".  Although it is true that there is no risk, I find the reward in causing as much grief as possible to the attacking forces.  In doing so, you may be allowing friendlies the opportunity to get airborne to cause grief of their own.

In situations where there are no hangers left allowing any action at all, the only choice left is a manned gun.

Bottom line, its a game.

Part of it is ,you have no way to prevent being killed in any guning position.   Your a sitting duck, no running , no hiding, no manuvers notta nothing. .  I'm sure thats why you get  a systems landed message when you do die.  To get kills in a manned gun is not something to be ashamed about, some times thats the last defense we have.    Very few people in AH have the ability or the "want" to man a "manned gun" and get results.

Besides Its not that easy to get kills in a manned gun.  Field ack guns are very difficult to get kills in,  same as with the osty without some kinda aiming "skill" = "time in the seat" and pratice.  All the other ways to get kills seem less difficult  compared to any manned gun.

Wana get po'd about something?  Ever have a panzer or shore battery shoot your plane outa the sky!  Wonder how many times that happened during the RL ww2.   Happens in AH,  not alot im sure, but it does, and that aint easy either.   Done it and seen it done.   Try it sometime :p

You sure dont just sit and shoot and get kills with no effort and no aiming.  The 8" guns are the only guns with "auto aiming" even then "you" have to put the guns on there target and still not get hits everytime.     In some situations manned gun kills may be more "available"  but not  easier,  only easier if you have that "time in the seat" = "skill" which relays to pratice.

Wiith all these manned ack guns on ships and fields, CV's still get sunk and fields still go down,  so the guns are not all that effective no matter who manns them.

System ack dropping my plane is flustrating, talk about dieing and nobody benefits, computer controlled ack deaths,,, now I'll boooooo that.  booooo   let it damage us not kill us.   If im gunna get downed in a plane I'd rather have a manned gun do it,  not some snickering computer program.
