F/A-18C, Mig-29, Mirage 2000-5, F16C and Saab Gripen were evaluated and F/A-18 was found superior.

Sure the MiG-29 is fast and furious, but it lacks in BVR capability and in other avionics. Maintenance is a nightmare too. The model we got has the AN/APG-73 radar(used in F/A-18E) and uprated engines which made it superior to it's competitors.

I belive that the twin engine design was also a major factor.

Twin engines is one of the major reasons for me wanting the eurofighter over the jsf too.

Yes it was. But if we would have gotten as good deal for the F-16 we would have probably gone with that.

I'm thinking you don't really know much about America or American's at all.

For example, you know the greatest thing about America? The door swings both ways.

Anyway, the story I heard is that Finnish airspace deliberately planned and executed an attack on the Soviet aircraft. They were only defending themselves.

I've spent 7 years in USA,i'm an American. But everyone of you keeps telling me that one  not an American unless one was born here. What kind of a BS is that? How mane times have i heard "f*** emigrants".People like us created this  country, people like you will destroy it.
Land of free!!!!Not anymore it isnt.
Anyway you can say crap about Russia all you want,it's the best you can do.This isn't Iraq, you have no balls nor power to invade us.
Oh Lord,i foresee a lot of replys, right Skuzzy?

Not American unless born there?  Not sure who has ever said that on this BBS.  In fact I have read quite the opposite.

The backlash you have read about here does not relate to immigrants as such...but to ILLEGAL immigrants.  From what I have seen, if you want to enter the US legally, work hard and beome "an American" you are welcome with open arms.
