Phantom CV bug.
« on: May 25, 2005, 09:27:51 PM »
We were hiding a captured CV from the Rooks.
A con flew over it didn't drop anything.
It vanished immediately (south of 55) and reappeared at its 'home' port (enemy) - CV still ours.
Half guys still see it at original position (south 55), other half see it at home port.
For the guys who still see it at original position (south 55) waypoints appear from home port.
No-one seeing it at any locations can hit any cons coming in with the 5" guns, also AI ack although firing is doing nothing.
This isn't the first time something like this has happened.

the lesson here is to stop hiding cv's.  Better yet, stop switching sides to spy.

Was nothing to do with switching sides (re-read the bug).
Hiding CV is part of denying other side resources.

Don't know about that hidden CV Kev, but a squaddie and I were in Bombers near a CV, and in fighters later in the evening and both CV's and all support ships disappered with no other aircraft in sight.  This was two or three nights ago on the last map at one of the northernmost bases.

Oddly enough - I had not been drinking.

Wouldn't be so bad if all the inane (look it up) replies actually dealt with the bug rather than the WAHHHH your hiding our CV.

What we're trying to find out is WHY CV's just disappear then reappear back at a port when they haven't even been damaged.

Then half the people still see it at its original position, the rest see it at the port.

Ever thought it may be part of a larger problem before you cast your snivelling comments?

CC MaddogWX, CV's seem to be able to exist in more than one place at a time, what triggers it is unknown.

Kev,

I have a fix for ya.

When I get the urge to expliot the game I strip nakid and lather myself up in Kraft cheese spread.  Whenever I have done this I have had no trouble with a mystery CV. Don't forget to turn turtle and fire up some Queens greatest hits too since this seems to help!

Sure it's not the best work around but I have never experienced your bug while doing it.

Hope this helps!
