Why so low?

Why are most dog fights so low?  I rarely see furballs above 5000 ft.   Dog fights should happen at 10-15, but nobody is ever there.

There's a fair amount of dogfights that at least start at that altitude, but most tend to descend during the course of the engagement.

Many dogfights just happen low simply for convienience, to cut down on travel time to a fight, etc.

Also because base capture attempts *usually* involve the majority of participants just hanging around the given field, waiting to vulch.

man i wish that was the only map in rotation.

each country fl;ips position each reset.

it is a BEAUTIFUL and varied terrain, just not set for "perfect" gameplay as far as equality for each country.

last time it was up knights pushed up the east coast, and all those fights int he hills and valleys were AWSOME!!!!

man i love that map
I don't know what to put here yet.

Most bases are <20 miles apart. That combined with the fuel burn multiplier, most people can not be bothered to go much above 10K.

Recently, I did a couple of sorties where I climbed to 15K or so and found I was above 90% of the other planes out there (unless you run into the odd squad or mass bomber mission).

That and the emphasis on capping to capture bases has most fights low.

6whiskey you have flown with the BT's (Blue Thunder). We cap it high and fight at all altitudes. Depends on the situation when engagement occurs.
