How feasable would it be to have small fleets with no CV, but
can provide gunfire and amphibious landing support? Or maybe
a small escort type CV with limited aircraft
selection as an alternative to full fleet task groups?
Possibly these fleets could have landing craft rather than
depending entirely on the LVTs for amphib assaults. Since we
already have a "shoreline" that the LVTs can sense, theoretically
an LST could "beach" itself at the same point.
