MT so if somebody told your black kids that they couldnt participate in an carrer oriented event because they were black you would make jokes of it?

Serious, what if your fasion designer son wasnt allowed to display his designs show because he was black?  

That would be funny, right?

Or maybe what if you werent allowed to attewnd one of his shows because it was only a show for black designers and black audiences?

Why not?  If its a private organization, and they dont get federal tax dollars to help them out, they can exclude anyone they want to.  Its perfectly legal, and I dont see why anyone should be allowed to force their way in.  Thats like me and some buddies buying a cabin, putting in a bar and stocking it with our own money, and inviting friends for weekend parties on the lake in our private cabin.  Some freak who lives nearby gets PO'd because he isnt invited to the parties, and sues us to allow him in because he's excluded.  Now is that right?  You say its a racism issue, I say its a privacy issue.  

Sounds like the crybaby that couldnt get in needs a trip in the Whaaaaambulance to me.

Like i said they enjoy "tax-exempt" status. That is plenty of reason as to why they shouldnt be allowed to discriminate. Private clubs yes they can do as they like regarding membership. But not organizations that are allowed to operate without paying taxes on expenditures. Thats like say The rest of America should pay their taxes so they can exclude people. Thats not how it works.

In one of the other threads I pointed out this same problem with some faith-based initiative programs. Some of those programs won't hire people based on their sex,religion, and race.

Federal Funding is the same as tax-exempt status to me. (as a tax-payer)

The example you use would be correct if you and your buddies paid no taxes on the cabin and alcohol. And I would side with the P.O'd guy since you didnt pay taxes on anything.

I agree with raider on this one.   If is is an organization using tax dollars.... there should be no discrimination.

I feel that private clubs can admit or block the admission of anyone base on any criteria they come up with including skin color is they are so inclined.

mt obviously feels that the route to racial equality is to give everyone different ritghts and that turmoil and rioting is a good thing.   I don't forsee White riots over simple things like this (black riots would be expected) but...  mt seems to feel that the risk is laughable.   That giving white supremist groups ammo is no big deal.
