Ahhh sorry.  Missed the "tax-exempt" part.  Yeah, if they enjoy special privileges from the govt. for their little get togethers, then they have no say in who gets in or doesnt.  They are subject to federal anti-discrimination policy.  My apologies.  My argument was for private groups who get no federal aid or assistance.

I just look at this from a reverse perspective I guess:

If this was an "all white" group
If we had a "white pride" day
If we had a "white heritage" ralley

The NAACP would be screaming jumping up and down crying foul.  The fact that they turn a blind eye when racial discrimination happens means they and other groups don't give a rats bellybutton about equality.

If they really cared about equality, why would we have affirmative action?  And why would the NAACP support it?

Answers: They dont, and they do.  Because it's in their best interests to do so.  If they thought true equality was in their best interest, they would support it.  Legal equality was just a springboard.  One they can try to use to pass everyone else by.  If any of us on either side of the issue truly want "equality", then changes have to be made to the system that exists now.

Paul McCartny and Stevie Wonder are great singers and musicians.  But people aren't the same everywhere, and maybe that's a good thing.

The media and lawyers want it to be called racism, because that's something to write about.  Money for everyone except the good that this group might be doing.  If they're up to no good, go after 'em.  Otherwise, people are tired of all this false racism calling.

I find this whole "lawsuit for discrimination"  business very distastful.  And no, I don't see it as racism, cause it's not.  If it was a country club that excluded  based on race, that would be racism.  Not renting an apartment based on race is racism.  Not renewing home owners insurance is racism.  (That happened to me one time almost.  My insurance agent is black and lives in Atlanta.  I live in a partly black neighborhood .  They were purging insurance for homes in this area.  Or at least it sure seemed like that  Their reason was stated as such, they were no longer insuring homes on that street  Was in the middle of painting the house and that worked out ok for me)

But this group seems like a community based, non-profit, tax-exempt organization to put the money and resources where it's needed.  Why sue 'em?

How is this not racism.  This is a group that says a man cannot enter because of the color of his skin????? you say this is racism???  Why is this any different than a country club....I will answer that question for you....it's not except in your eyes because it is a black group and the victem is a white man.

you prove the point entirly that people don't think white males deserve to have the same civil rights as anyone else.  The man was denied entry because of the color of his skin.....this is racial discrimination any way you paint it.

yep it is. The only reason it shouldnt be allowed is that tax-exempt status. They want to pay their own bills all the way including taxes, then they can exclude whoever they want to. That includes private country clubs as far as I am concerned.

so why wasn't the guy let into an organization that recieves federal help via tax exempt status (not a private club mind you)???

If a black guy wanted into an all white group that enjoyed tax exemption and they said no we don't accept black people here that would be racial discrimination just like this.  You proved my point by not seeing the picture here.  My point when ever I make a thread like this is to show how minorities discriminate and everyone says oh poor whity and laughs it off.

Would you laugh at a black guy trying to get on a white bus or sit in the fron, circa Georgia 1955, and told no blacks allowed?

But in this one news story the situation is different Guns.  New Orleans is predominately Black.  It is a dangerous place to go for tourists and definitely not the place to get in trouble, which is easy to do.

This is a fact and important to understand for the discussion.

If the visitors had business there, why were they not all let in?   Does anyone here see my point, or is this all rubber stamping?  Seems like a bigtime setup to me.  Normally visiting groups give advance notice when they're planning to visit, and give all the details aforehand so there are no misunderstandings of this nature.  Did they call first to arrange the visit and mention beforehand a white fellow was coming and at that point told it wouldn't be appropriate?  And please don't say it doesn't make any difference.  That organization has responsibility to its members and goals if all is on the up and up.

They were there for business alright.  To set up a lawsuit most likely.

It states it clearly in the article that the social worker in question went to the conference because he "works with alot of minority children"  I would assume maybe he went to get more insite to his job.  

Apon arriving he was told he was not allowed in because of the color of his skin.

I find the fact that New Orleans is a predominatly black area irrelevent because IMHO this could have easily happened if the conference was in Las Vegas.
