frustration of the month award
« on: May 30, 2005, 10:42:24 AM »
last nigth i was trying to defend one of the gv bases on one of the little islands  and was preety much all alone up against heavy odds.

anyways, after repeated attempts to get out of the hanger's in a osie, and getting a bomb dropped on my head, and then two seconds later the vh destroyed (this went on a couple times), i decided to take up a d-9 to pork the troops on the airfield located on the same island, climbed to 10k, flew to island, started my dive, zoomed guncam, on first pass, i got first set of baracks, and a pilot wound, and about 3 cons on my tail. i extended out 20 miles or so, climbed back up to 7k and went back for second set of barracks.

this time i had 6 cons waiting for me, as i slid pass the first 3 spits, i stared my dive, and just as i get in range for my guns for the barracks, i start pilot wound blackout,, ok! so i repeat.
extend out, make  a lazy turn, while keeping my distance from 3 spits, a nik, and la7, barracks in sight, line up shot and pilot wound balckout   ...talk about ripping the joystick out of the usb....one more attempt yeilded the same result but by that time my engine had died just as i was passing out lined up on barracks.

lucky im bald, or i would have ripped it all out during that sortie:rolleyes:

Yea, pilot wound seems to *sense* when you have a con in your crosshairs...or when you extend the gear for a landing.

Time the attack or the dive (when possible) after you come out of the pilot wound blackout. and shame on you for not getting both barracks in one pass.

I am pretty sure, somehow pilot wound blackout is timed with Con in crosshair, and at the critical moment for landing as it seriously happens 90% of time during these situations, in fact I learned to  squeeze the trigger during b/o,as it goes completly dark, and got kills that way.

IMO Pilot wounds are wayyyyyy overmodeled.

Ok I can understand yoru wounded and you gotta disenguage and RTB.
Sometimes thats just not possible right away.

And why do we HAVE to go into full blackout right from the get?
Wouldnt it make more sense  to become slightly disoriented at first and have it get worse and more frequent leding up to full and longer blackouts as time progresses?

BTW I think pilot wounds should be applied to GVs as well
