first i'll address the colors. i used these as resources:
histoy and colors from:
"Walk Around FW 190D" ISBN 0-89747-374-4
online references used:
http://www.scaleworkshop.com/workshop/fw190d932cm_1.htmhttp://modelhangar.virtualave.net/schwarz12.htmhttp://www.scalevision.com/new/fw190d9black12mt_1.htmon one page:
The fuselage was painted in a scheme of RLM 81 Braunviolet, RLM 82 Hellgrun and the "spuriously designated" Grunblau 84. and int he picture it is tan.
also:
Many arguments have been put forward over the years as to what the actual paint mix used to create "84" is, some have claimed it is poorly-manufactured RLM 76
i used here:
http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/colorcharts.aspand here:
http://www.skinnersheaven.com/as color references. the vairence of RLM 84 (green-blue, or grun-blau, also named Gelbgrau, and even Yellow-Green) was so wide there is no single reference you can trust.
in the end i used a cross between the definate greenish blue in my book, and the yellow-tan on one model example. the finished color is not as green as my book, and not as yellow as the one model. notice on one example it is almost just gray-tan.
the wing uper and lower surfaces i followed the pattern and again split the color references i found to find a medium. i think they are pretty close to the Christopher Mangion model.
the cowl dark green is taken from the color sites also, and is closest to Mark L. Tucker's model. notice the picture he has of the left side. i think it is pretty drn close, i spen probably 2 hours on that color.
the werk number 500570 is on the stabilizer, just mostly obscured by the brown. in real life and the models it is easier to see black over the brown than in game with lower resolutions.
i will spend some time tonight trying to add more dirt to the cowl, though with the way the bmp wraps, and duplicates the area between the guns it is very diffucult to go with something other than a solid color.
i the image here the boxed area is stretched wildly, and the replicated between the guns:

the left and right are seperate and duplicate like this:

if anyone has advise on how to make smooth transitions in that area please let me know, i am at a loss. as you can see in the shot with the blue and green i do have gun rasidue in the channels, it is getting it outside of those channels i can't figure out. if i make dirt between the guns it also must be on the outside of the guns a good length down the sides (where it would not possibly get)
from the shot of the cowl, you can see the radical stretching in a "paint chip" i put there, it is only a few pixels tall, but it stretches from the panel line all the way to the middle of the cowl. os if i put dark "dirt" it will have to go all the way form the panel line up to the middle of the cowl. not realistic at all.
United, it is OTW now BTW.
