I pulled up at a light, and on one side of me was one of them new Mustang's, on the other side was a grand national. Both midnight black in color, Which one would win?

And NO the color has nothing to do with Horse Power.

Like to hear some input, opinions or facts.

Personally I have no clue to the HP of either, but opinion wise I would have to side with the grand national. Not by much, but I sure would of liked to see them race.

1987 Buick Grand National

Performance
0-60 mph: 6.1 sec
Quarter Mile: 13.85 sec @ 99 mph

2005 Mustang GT

Performance
0-60 mph: 5.2 sec
Quarter Mile: 13.9 sec @ 104 mph

Just a couple I snared off the http://www.fast-autos.net site.

Looks like it'd be mostly the driver not the car in the 1/4.

Yep I bet those slow American cars would have a hard time competing with New Zealand cars huh.

Yeah, that 2005 Mustang is only a little faster than a 2005 Porsche Boxster for about half the price.

We're really getting gouged on price here. Maybe Ford will cut the price on Mustangs so we get a better deal.

Boxster
0 - 60 (sec): 6.1
1/4 Mile (sec @ mph): 14.30@100.97

Work with a guy with a T type Buick, same as a grand National other then trim.

He has a slightly bigger turbo and a few minor mods and a time slip for a really low 13, like 13.2, with a slightly slipping tranny.

They can be damn fast.

a GNX is faster than 6.1 i thought.... mid 5's IIRC

i have seen them smoke alot of cars, when we used to "cruise" in areas. lost of quick street races, and a buddy who had a GNX was almost unbeatable
I don't know what to put here yet.

I was a l ittle surprised to see that number myself. Not that I have anything to contradict it though.

I really do love those Grand Nationals though. Hard to believe that such a car existed in the 80s.

I dated a girl wih a brand new 1984 Grand National.  It would smoke the tires off the line, and you could smoke them at 55, if you wanted to.  Think nekkid chicks in the sunroof as you mosquito-fog on the drag.  Good times.

LOL

Bit sensitive today are we? I wasn't comparing to NZ cars I was comparing to just about any sports bike.

My stock Gixer could do quater mile in mid to high 10's and hit around 140-145mph how much would you have to spend on a car to get that?

How much would you have to spend to get your Gixer to carry four people and accelerate like a Mustang GT?

Oh silly me. How could I have missed that obvious non existent referance to a motorcycle in a thread about cars?

Kinda slow that Gizer is isn't it?

At least compared to a funny car.
