Just a different direction, one of many.

Read a lot of Native American stuff on spiritualism and origins too. Amongst others.

Funny, they all say the same thing if you zoom out. Neh?
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

For you?

Skimmed that a while ago. Same thing.. the wheel of life. Love thy neighbor. I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.

You don't see the intention thread in Buddha?

A couple of things strike me as odd about the pres as well. Most of our presidents employed a good speach writer, Yet the Bushmaster speeches do not have the ring of a professional, and the type of vernacular errors (that he is famous for) sound just like the type that are typical of the technically illiterate.  I doubt that he can read at a high school level.  There is also matter of his C average, which is very low considering the amount of money his father has, and yes, grades can be bought at any school.  I payed my way through college tutoring rich kids (many of whom could not read at all), and just the fact that I was selected as a tutor says volumes, as my own ability to write is abit sucko with a touch of craptastic thrown in.  I just forgot what I was writing about.

I see many things in Buddhism.

They are not some Beatles "love thy brother" ideal.

Intention? Absolutely. But that is but a small part. Almost a given.

You "skimmed it." I really suggest not doing that.

Well, it was long ago, I admit. Before the Native American phase even.

But clipping to save time here:

Quote
The eight factors of the noble eightfold path are: Right Understanding, Right Thought, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness and Right Concentration.

You don't see just about every religion's precepts in there? Certainly it's what Dyer talks about with "intention".

And the "moral code"

Quote
to abstain from harming living beings

to abstain from taking what is not given

to abstain from sexual misconduct

to abstain from false speech

to abstain from intoxicating drugs or drink

Where have we seen those before, eh?

Come, Nash... you have to acknowledge many common elements, especially in the macro view.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Of course I do. Why would I deny that? I'm not. This isn't an argument.

But it's a mistake to recognize some common traits and dismiss their exploration as being more of the same.

Explore.

More.

I think the point is that in the macro they all say basically the same thing.

I would call that a "clue".  ;)

Now, will I revisit them? I dunno. Depends on where one thought leads the next. I might go for Cave Dweller belief systems next... the closer you get to the beginning, ya know.......  ;)

But really, I do apologize for the hijack. If we wish to continue we should start another thread.

After all this one is dedicated to angst and we're really not in that mode, are we?
