Sad Day...
« on: June 05, 2005, 12:30:53 AM »
Hi Guys,

The following news item has profoundly affected one of the families in our church:

2 U.S. soldiers killed in bomb attack on convoy

I'll make more details available as they are released to the news. Both of the men who were killed were married, one with kids, the wounded man is in critical condition, he also has a wife and children.

Prayers for their families, and the other men and families in their unit would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sigh,

Seagoon

Thanks to everyone who has been praying for the families and men of the 1st Bat., 7th SF Group.

Some of the details I wanted to hold back on. We are honored to have several members of the Special Forces in our congregation including the CO of 1st Bat, who is a great guy and understandably devastated. This has been a very rough tour, with several guys killed and wounded, and anyone who knows how closely knit the SF community and the A-teams are, will know the profound effect that a single tour with multiple losses has. This has been particularly hard on the FRG (Family Readiness Group) at home, and the COs wife has been doing an incredible job consoling grieving wives and helping to keep morale up at home, but it has inevitably taken its toll on them. I wish I could do more for all the families involved, but I am necessarily only able to minister directly to those in our congregation (and who is adequate for such a task?). These recent losses were particularly hard because the unit is in the process of coming home, and one of the men killed leaves behind a pregnant wife expecting twins. The other man's wife was the teacher of some of the kids in the church, and it is particularly hard when one of the losses is a well known face from the refrigerator door. The wounded individual was badly burned (including lungs) and is still in critical condition.

Some of the details in the news are wrong, they were not in an APC, they were in Humvee, and it was most likely an AT mine not an IED.

Thanks Again,

SEAGOON
