It really depends on the type of scorpion. The ones we have around here look like the one in Steve's pic. They are like a bee or hornet sting. The black ones are much, much worse and have been known to kill.

Big claws - very little poison, small claws - LOTS of posion, the venom is protein based and is effected by heat - soooo if you get stung immerse the afflicted item in ....wait for it, boiling water, this will reduce the effectiveness of the venom - apparently in some cases the sting is so painful you don't notice the boiling water.

Killing insects can be done by spraying them with a strong detergent - apparently they have a waxy surface on their bodies which when removed by detergent kills them.

I'm not sure if these are true however experimental analysis should offer results - let us know how it turns out.

Do the stings  itch bad for several days RPM?  Seems that would be the worst part.  Also, did it have any other serious effects than a bee sting?  

Fire ants are the worst thing that can bite around here, and they itch like a yellow jacket (hornet) sting for at least a week, sometimes two weeks.  You'll sctatch yourself raw it itches so much.  Bad thing about it is, it feels good to scratch and that makes it worse.

Let's just say the stock of hydrocortasone and aloe vera manufacturer's went way up for about a week. It was much, much worse than a fire ant bite. Luckily, he was running out of venom the last few stings.
I was working as a truck driver at the time and wearing pants to work was torture, bouncing in an air ride seat 12 hours a day.

and i whine when i get metal splinters or whatever they are called in my fingers, or i get small cuts from them.

3M brake clean ....  that stuff will kill yellow jackets and widows from 30 paces.

(Yea thats a widow in the top pic ,, ive seen enough of those things to last anyone a life time)

Throw an empty spray can in a campfire and it will go off spreading glowing embers 20 feet out in the woods.
