new pedals
« on: June 09, 2005, 09:23:34 AM »
I hooked up my pedals in ah2 again last week. Ive been having some success bnz'ing but they are hard to get use to. Im told they will become second nature..Im a furball guy however and im having some difficulty with gunnery. The pedals have made defensive moves alot easier though. How long did it take you to get use to yours? (anyone)

rudder input has a huge effect on aim now

used to be able to kick rudder in, slide by and hit a plane more than not. now I miss more than I hit...

I've had mine for maybe 6 months or so.  I would say it took me about a month or so to start pushing the right pedal without thinking.  Took me longer to stop trying to twist my stick!:D  I think i was doing that for months, then one day i realised i stopped doing it.  It took me about 2 months, maybe 3 to be fully confident with the pedals.

Roflol omg Saw, you're sick :lol

I always wanted some pedals, problem is; they're more expensive than most sticks!
But I'll have a go

Maybe a month or two until it was completely second nature.

A while for sure, not sure how long. Of all my HOTAS controllers, rudders took the longest to get used to and feel natural.

Was 3 week to a month.  Couldn't do without them now.  The con thats fast on your 6.   Barrel roll with rudder and the suckers right past into your gunsite.  Could'nt do that with me twisty.    You'll    get used to them.:aok

Been using rudder pedals since the first Thrustmaster RCS in '92-'93 I think. I use CH pedals now and I could do without a throttle but not them.

I guess its easier to force overshoots because rudders induce drag and slow you down?

Just curious, is it really easy to feel if CH rudders are centered?
I used to have some TM rudders and was usually dragging to one side (it was hard to feel when they were center). It didn't matter much in AW, but here I think it would kill your e.

CH Pro Pedals have a very distinct center.

I just bought a set off ebay. I'm looking forward to getting them and seeing the difference.

Now I get to die even easier for awhile I guess.:lol
