Frame 3 AAR
« on: June 11, 2005, 10:38:57 AM »
332nd Flying Mongrels rolled A11 and headed West and then North for our target which was the grunt factory. About 40 miles out some Spits came in and began to harass our formation. Our escorts has swept ahead, but these Spits got through or they had come from a different direction. Some bombers went down and others were smoking. Also some fighters went down. Shortly after that our escorts arrived and engaged the Spits. About the time we wanted to calibrate to drop on the target some P-47’s arrived on the scene and really caused some problems. Ghosth was shot down while trying to calibrate and I think others were also. My run was off due to the rushed calibration. The timing of those P47’s was perfect. The factory was damaged, but I don’t know to what extent. Many of us landed A1, but I had to log after that.

Fun frame. :)

Just checked the logs. Our squad destroyed 45 objects at the factory.

C HAWKS engaged 15-20 N1K2-Js near V20 I think it was the Nightmares. We saw them from afar at about 20k and I think they dove away towards their target. We were able to catch and kill several before they reached it. While turning with the last of that group several returned to his aide catching me way too slow.
Unable to accelerate away I was easy prey for them, but not before I got my 4 :o) I think my squaddies mopped them up ad Reloaded for another couple scalps. All in all we did well and the NIKIs fought a great fight!

Not intended to be a whine but may sound like one....

I notice in the logs there were 90 N1K2-Js and only 5 KI-84s.
I thought the nikis were just added to supplement yet it seems to have been reversed.

Seems to me in the effort to make things fair for FSO that too often the result is the opposite of what was intended.

I think we should just follow the historical situation as much as possible as far as planes and ratios and let us work it out from there. Just a thought. I had a blast in my  Bpony!:)

Can you explain why you used almost ALL N1k's, when the orders stated a minimum of 20 of each plane be used?

Yes you did VWE.

Here's the numbers.

Ki67's = 13
Ki61's =  5
Ki84's =  5
N1K's  = 88

The orders Stated:

Available planes:
- Ki84J (20 min, max of 50% of forces)
- N1K2-J (20 min, no max)
- Ki61 (20 min, no max)
- Ki67 (no min, no max)

So what is wrong with this picture?

I know the Axis Frame C.O. was swamped with real life and the orders were very basic, but it beats not getting them at all so I will not complain. :)

I am sure their will be points taken from the Axis due to this error.

Hmmmm  I missed the part about plane limitations.....SORRY!

My orders left it up to each squad CO to fly the fiter of choice.

If I remember right the only limitation was only 2 squads could fly N1K's from A10?  Or did I miss read that?  If so my BAD....

Bailif wack his  p p  :)

Seriously,

I'm sorry I came off like I was blowing up on you, I shouldn't do that on a open Board.

I was a bit irritated about this happening, because it was the second time this event that it had happened.

Yes it did state: (on the orders that I got)

Available planes:
- Ki84J (20 min, max of 50% of forces)
- N1K2-J (20 min, no max)
- Ki61 (20 min, no max)
- Ki67 (no min, no max)

It also stated: only two squads could fly from A10.

To be Fair, I am hearing that the Allied did not attack V25 (A25) as they were ordered to. that left a squad on the Axis side doing nothing for the frame. second time that has happened.  so there were problems on both sides of the fence.

Actually the Axis orders did include an attack on V25. Maybe the addition of at least 30 extra N1Ks squashed it.

I just looked at the Allied orders that Doobs had sent out, and I don't see where anyone was to attack V25. It shows the DOW Flying near it, but not attacking it.

JB42 if your orders say different, I would like to see them.

Sled,

I noticed on doobs orders that the sectors did not match what was loaded in the SEA.  That threw all of doobs routes off.  I told doobs about it a little before launch and he said he received the map from gd and had to do some last minute scrambling because of it.  I know our orders were changed twice in the last 15 minutes before launch.

The same thing happened to me when I CO'd a frame.  I had routes flying over our bases that when we got to the SEA turned out to be enemy bases that would give away our location.  I had to do some last minute scrambling as well.  It would help if we could get the actual map as it will be used in SEA when planning.

All in all though I had a great time!

DaPup - nice flying near A7 at the end.  That was a fun dogfight.

These are the orders I received and I belive all Axis C.O.'s did.  The sectors did not match where we were supposed to go. My X.O. ghosth was there early and had already dealt with that question when I logged on about 10 min before the frame start time.
