May Col Lard rest in peace.   I'd heard about Dana Elcar's passing and figured I must've known who he was - but IMDB had no pic and I didn't check on it any further.

btw did you knwo Col Lard was a real life person - its in Boyington's book.    Apparently he really did have it in for Pappy.

Wow i thought he died in the 80s.

In the TV series, Col. Lard represented a real Marine officer, Col. Smoak.  Col. Smoak, true to the depiction in Baa Baa Black sheep was a by the book Marine that gave Greg Boyington a very difficult time.  He probably deserved it for his non-combat performance and general disregard for authority.   A real life General Moore stepped in to take of the heat off of Boyington.
