webpage building...
« on: June 13, 2005, 12:52:33 PM »
Hi All -

I've got a webpage that I'm going to use for the restoration of my impala.  Of course, I have no clue what I'm doing.

I created a page (HTM) , which works when running off my harddrive.  Just for grins, it is named chevysite.htm

I have an FTP address, which I drag and drop my above page into my webpage folder.

Now, when I actually type in my webpage address...

Website

I get the message that the site has not been loaded yet.  How do I get that first page to load up?

Thanks!!

Your webpage address is "http://www.modas.chevytalk-supporter.org/"?

So is this a sub-domain of chevytalk?

http://www.modas.chevytalk-supporter.org/chevy_site.HTM

or call it index.htm or index.html is you want it to open with:
http://www.modas.chevytalk-supporter.org/

also you need to change the imgage link to this:
http://www.modas.chevytalk-supporter.org/sitting_pretty.jpg

Did you register your sitename with whoever your ISP is?
Are you trying to host it on your free ISP bandwidth, or that Chevy site?
When you drag and drop, does it actually upload?
You probably have to name your first page:

index.htm

(all lowercase)
