If you are an RAF nut you can't help but connect 609 to Spits. DM Crook's book Spitfire Pilot is a classic from the B of B, and of course 609 had John Dundas who shot down Helmut Wick only to be killed by Wick's wingman seconds later.
And of course the three Yanks in the RAF, Red Tobin, Shorty Keogh and Andy Mamendoff were all 609 during the B of B. So it's a great squadron choice in that sense
