It is also missing the DSL fix expected in the final release and ubisoft has no dedicated servers up yet but they say they are working on both problems.

So far IL2 is what I expected, a great boxed sim with online problems.

An encouraging thing is the stability experienced online by those who can get there.

Stage, how many were in the lobby with you and how did it run?

I believe the 'DSL' problem, if it is the one we saw in the demo, was that the second internal IP used by the network card in an external DSL modem setup would cause such players to be unable to connect to the true IP.

What a great idea Funked!  Then I could laugh at the hilarity of Gunman26 while at work.

demo worked fine for me with MP.
Only gripe was those skins changing sometimes when some other player changes his planes skin...
and I have DSL with computer having static local network IP which is translated to internet IP at ISP. (NAT)

but what IL2 lacks, is some lil' tweaking into those AIs..
they like to crash in the ground sometimes when I go for landing and sometimes they collide at me in clear situation.
Not to talk about taxiing past 1st plane if you're 2nd plane out of 4..  then 3 and 4 taxiis right into 1.

oh yah.. theres like 90 missions in german fighter campaign, never got to fly FW190A4 :I
Seems like no K4 either, its already late april '45. (flying G6/AS, but thats one fun toy with wep.. sure speeds up!)
Also noticed that 30mm is sometimes quite porked, I've met 2 fighters that has took 5 hits of 30mm before something happens and few more with 3-4 hits. (IL2 goes easier  ;))

oh.. those AIs are also masters of kill stealing  :D

Uh oh! You know what else they are missing???

The LuftWhiners!

Nope, too late, didn't take very long:

Except the entire 109 series is superior in climb, acceleration and manueverability to the entire Russian planeset- exception being the La5FN and the Yak9U.

Someone should clue those dumbshits in, the German planes are by far better than the Russian planes.

and this is a real (un)intelligent comment here: "
In view of the fact that it took 3-4 30mm hits to bring a large bomber like a B17 but it takes more than that to take down a much smaller russian aircraft would suggest to me that the damage model needs improvement in IL2.

Perhaps someone could modify this feature in the game ie get into the damage model folder of IL2 and change it so that it is more accurate. Can this be done like in CFS2?"

I think those people that play Il-2 are some of the most amazingly uneducated people ever. They can't discern fact from fiction and make some pretty bogus claims.

The fact that it takes exactly ONE 30mm shell to take the tail or wings off any Russian fighter must of escaped his grasp. The moron was probably shooting all his guns at the same time and only the 15mm were hitting.

I did the ubisoft thing, got into one dogfight area, it was 6/6.  Worked fine, no lag at all, but boy did they suck.  I shot one down, smoked another and was lined up for a 3rd when the host pulled the plug.  And I suck bad, so they must have been newbies, but the code seemed to work fine.
